Our Story

Growing up, Janet was always in charge of making the chimichurri sauce at home — family members and friends would say it was the best that they had ever tried. In June 2020, an idea was born to start a pop-up empanada stand to spread the love during the troubling times of the pandemic, and so, Empanadas Chimi was born.

We first started back in June 2020, operating out of our house. Then came our food trailer, which you’ll find parked on York Boulevard on weekends, serving up fresh empanadas and good vibes. Our pop-up is always a party, and our goal is for people not only to enjoy our food but to experience our culture!

We are a small, family, and minority owned business. Rooted in family and friendship, you can always pick up on the good vibes Janet, Javier, Josue and Napoleon have when stopping by at their chimi mobile, as they like to call it. If you need a laugh, smile, or a good joke, they got you. You can always feel welcomed as they always greet you with a big smile. These 4 are the backbone of Empanadas Chimi.
